Redding Sings 2009 RULES AND REGULATIONS
MINIMUM ELEGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
You must be a minimum age of 14 at the date of the audition and under 24 years old as of December 31, 2009.
You are ineligible if, as of the date of your audition, you have any type of contract for talent representation (for example, a talent agent or manager), a music recording contract, an acting contract, a merchandising agreement, or any other contractual arrangement. All applicants must be present at either audition—no music electronic media will be accepted in the place of a live audition. Applicants must be available to sing at MarketFest 2009.
THE PROCESS:
-FIRST ROUND OF AUDITIONS
Saturday February 21, 2009, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. or
Sunday February, 22, 2009, 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
Location: South end of the Downtown Redding Mall, 1670 Market St, Redding, CA
• Print out the audition form from either: www.myspace.com/reddingSings or www.vivadowntownredding.org/reddingSings.
• Turn in the completed form at the check-in table upon arrival. Audition numbers will be given on a first come, first served basis.
• Recommended parking is in the Downtown Mall parking lot on California Street. Parking is free.
• You will need proof of ID with you (see below)
• All auditions will be given one minute to sing a cappella (without accompaniment)
• Top finalists will be notified by phone after auditions.
• We will give complete instructions on site, as they are subject to change.
-FINAL ROUND- REDDING SINGS EVENT!
Saturday, March 28, 7-9 p.m.: Event
Audience will choose the Top 10.
Top 10 get the chance to sing during MarketFest 2009!
Location: Od City Hall - Shasta County Arts Council; 1313 Market Street in Downtown Redding
• 3 local community judges will be given a few seconds to speak after each performance.
• Each of the 20 finalists will have 3-5 minutes to sing a song of their choice. Background track accompaniment is necessary and we will arrange a music drop-off of after the auditions.
• Finalists will perform in no particular order, and will be voted on by the audience at the end of the night (one vote per audience member). The top10 singers winners will be announced at the reception following the event.
-SING FOR MARKETFEST 2009
Top finalists will arrange with Viva Downtown to sing at MarketFest, date and times to be determined.
What to bring to the Auditions: Identification that shows proof of your age (for example, a birth certificate, driver’s license, a passport or a school ID card). Print out the audition forms at either www.myspace.com/reddingSings or www.vivdowntownredding.org/reddingSings. For those auditioning under the age of 18, a release form will need to be signed. That form will be available at the check-in table at the auditions.
What to sing at the Auditions: Be prepared to sing a cappella (without accompaniment) any song of your choice. Please note that all auditions will be 60 seconds (1 minute) in length.
Paperwork: You and your parent/guardian will be required to fill out, sign, and agree to all of the entry and release forms prior to auditioning. These forms will be available to you at either www.vivdowntownredding.org/reddingSings or www.myspace.com/reddingSings. Forms will also be available on site at Viva Downtown, 1725 Market Street, Redding, CA 96001 or at the auditions. If you advance at the competition, you and your parent/guardian will be required to fill out, sign, and agree to all of the terms and conditions of any additional forms. ALL FORMS MUST BE FILLED OUT COMPLETELY AND TRUTHFULLY.
Disqualifications: We reserve the right to disqualify and/or exclude, in our sole and absolute discretion, any individual from any of the auditions, including without limitation, violation of any portion of these rules, or tampering with the entry process or the audition process. We also reserve the right to make necessary alterations. Being chosen to audition and/or compete at any leveling the process does not ensure that you will be selected to continue to the next stage.
General Conditions: By participating, entrants and their parents/guardians agreeto these rules and the decisions of the producers, the voting audience, and the panel of judges, which shall be final and binding. Your presence at the auditions, and the presence of your friends, family members, and anyone else accompanying you, constitutes your and their consent and agreement to the recording and use of your performance, appearance, name, voice, singing voice, likeness, and any musical or sound effects produced by you and/or them for use in connection with any advertising, marketing, promotion, in all media, current or future. If you and/or your friends, family members, or anyone else accompanying you to the audition, do not wish to be photographed, or do not agree with these terms, PLEASE DO NOT AUDITION. Your and/or their failure to do so will be conclusively deemed to be a waiver of any and all claims for invasion of privacy, defamation, etc. All federal, state and local laws apply. Audition dates and locations are subject to change. NO WEAPONS, ALCOHOL, OR NON-PRESCRIPTION CONTROLLED SUBSTANCES WILL BE PERMITTED AT ANY AUDITION OR DURING THE COMPETITION.
