The small group that put on the first MarketFest in the summer of 1996 has grown into a network of volunteers, groups and businesses committed to revitalizing Redding's Downtown. We are drawn together by a shared vision of a vibrant and vital heart to our city.
Viva Downtown is an National "Main Street Organization" designated by the U.S. and California Office of Historic Preservation and a non-profit 501(c)3 organization. In the past ten years, we have done many great things to improve the social, economic and cultural aspects of Downtown Redding and to serve the greater Shasta County community.
Downtown Businesses are hosting celebrations and local organizations are bringing their events BACK to the heart of our community. You can see it here: Downtowntown Events.
Our youth interns have ramped up our web presence and contributed to the success of MarketFest 2010, Pros and Joes Barbecue Grilldown and the Downtown Redding Beer and Wine Festival.
Our MainStreet Committees, fueled by terrific volunteers, have made everything happen.
