Welcome
Thank you for volunteering with Viva Downtown. Volunteers are essential partners in making
Downtown Redding a welcoming, vibrant, and inclusive place.
About Viva Downtown
We are a volunteer, non-profit group dedicated to enhancing the cultural, social and economic
development of Downtown Redding W support downtown businesses, activate public spaces,
and steward community assets through collaboration and measurable impact.
Respect, Representation and Responsibility
Inclusion and accessibility guide how we plan and deliver our work. Viva Downtown supports
community-led and culturally specific programming while respecting the leadership of partner
organizations and working to remove barriers to participation.
Volunteer Roles & Support
Volunteer roles align with approved Viva events, projects, and work plans with clear
expectations and a designated point of contact. Volunteers receive orientation on Viva
Downtown’s mission, collaboration expectations, and role-specific guidance. Questions,
feedback, or access needs are encouraged at any time.
Community Spaces
The IOOF Hall serves as an accessible hub for planning meetings, volunteer coordination, and
event staging, particularly for community-led and cultural events. Additional accessibility or
welcoming guidance may be provided for public-facing activities.
Partnerships & Recognition
Volunteers may assist with planning, setup, breakdown, logistics, or on-site coordination for Viva
Downtown or partner-led events. Volunteer contributions are recognized throughout the year,
with opportunities for deeper involvement through committees or project leadership.
Volunteer Code of Conduct
Volunteers are expected to:
Act respectfully and professionally at all times
Support a welcoming, inclusive, and harassment-free environment
Follow directions from Viva Downtown staff or event leadership
Promptly report safety concerns, injuries, hazards, or incidents
Represent Viva Downtown and Downtown Redding positively
Not consume alcohol or be under the influence of alcohol, cannabis, or any impairing
substance while volunteering, including during setup, events, breaks, and breakdown
Volunteers who are unable to follow these expectations indicate to us that they would rather do
something else.
Volunteer Acknowledgment
I have read and agree to follow all Viva Downtown and City of Redding event and site
rules, directions from event leadership, and the Volunteer Code of Conduct, including the
prohibition on alcohol or impairment while volunteering.
